Our mission is to promote all forms of Nordic skiing as a healthy activity for all ages and abilities. Among our core activities are maintaining and grooming over 140 kilometers of ski trails for recreation and touring, as well as performance skiing and racing.
Serving Anchorage's Nordic ski community requires the year-round commitment of a small but dedicated staff, hundreds of hard-working volunteers, and a fleet of specialized heavy equipment. More importantly, the generous support of our members and donors is what
makes all of this possible.

Wednesday, April 10, 1:25 pm, Update 1:45

FYI...APU skiers:   DOWL HKM will be conducting geotechnical investigations in the utility easements between the  APU and UAA campuses over the next few weeks.  To protect wetland vegetation, geotechnical information from this area must be gathered while the ground is frozen, and we are rapidly approaching the spring thaw. The information gathered will supplement existing geotechnical information for the U-Med District access route study being conducted under a seven-party agreement between the MOA, DOT&PF and the major institutions in the area.  This is a data collection process only and is being done now to take advantage of frozen ground conditions. If you have any questions on this study, please call Maryellen or Rachel at 562-2000 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Craig has groomed and set new track on the Mize, Margaux's, Lekisch, Jodhpur and the Stadium.  The dark trails have just a smidgen of new snow and are still in great shape.  The sun is trying to peak out and the skiing is awesome for both classic and skating.
As of 1:30 pm the Lake Loop and the Horseshoe classic trails have been groomed and set with a single track.  Enjoy!
About 3-6" of new snow fell overnight so Tom is out grooming and setting new track on the Hillside today.  He has finished all the Lighted Loops, Double Bubble and the Gasline.  Before he leaves this afternoon, he will have groomed and tracked the Richter, Ridge, Spencer, Abbott Mulit-use Trail and some connectors.  He intends to devote some attention to the Tour Trail and APU tomorrow.  Enjoy the wonderful skiing conditions while you can!
Bill hit the trails early this morning and spent some time grooming and tracking the trails at ER High School, Yosemite Dr. , and the Coyote Trails at Mirror Lake MS.  This was his first visit since the initial "dump" from this past weekend, so the trails will still be a little soft.  They are in great shape and came out very nice...skiing should be excellent for classic and a little bit of a workout for those skating.  Have fun!
