Our mission is to promote all forms of Nordic skiing as a healthy activity for all ages and abilities. Among our core activities are maintaining and grooming over 140 kilometers of ski trails for recreation and touring, as well as performance skiing and racing.
Serving Anchorage's Nordic ski community requires the year-round commitment of a small but dedicated staff, hundreds of hard-working volunteers, and a fleet of specialized heavy equipment. More importantly, the generous support of our members and donors is what
makes all of this possible.

Thursday, January 3, 10:58 a.m. **Update 12:53 p.m.**

By not grooming during the warm spell, the base was saved allowing Craig to go out very early this morning with the Pisten Bully, while it was still nice and cold. He cleaned up the Mize lighted and set new tracks, but be aware that they are a bit shallow in places.  He also went over the Snow Making Loop, the Stadium and the Multi-Use trail.

Tom took the Pisten Bully out before it got too warm and was able to groom the Besh, the Hillside lighted and the Gasline.  As of 12:30 p.m. the temperature was 40 degrees and breezy, so he'll hold off until the temperature drops again.  The areas he groomed have a thin layer of snow on top of ice and are skiable.

Bill checked the base temperature this morning and decided it was still too warm.  The forecast is for cooler temperatures this evening, so he's hopeful.
Meanwhile, he's staying busy at the Bunker putting tracks back on the Pisten Bully 600.
