Our mission is to promote all forms of Nordic Skiing as a healthy form of individual and family activity. There are many diverse aspects of this mission including maintaining and grooming over 170 kilometers of world-class ski trails designed for touring, performance skiing, and racing. Serving the local Nordic community requires a year-round commitment involving a small but energetic workforce, many dedicated volunteers, and a fleet of specialized heavy equipment.

KINCAID
Our fantastic volunteers were out Saturday on snowmachines and groomed the lighted loops for skating.  Last night, the park had about an inch of new snow and covered up all their hard work...but the skiing is still great and more snow is always welcome!  Thank you.
Craig is occupied today with some mechanical issues that have surfaced.
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day for those who have the day off!

HILLSIDE
Hillside also had about one inch of new snow last night, but that really didn't seem to make much of a difference, however, every little bit helps and we are grateful!  Tom made a pass on the lighted loops and attempted to resurrect the Stadium at Service H.S., but reported that it was pretty thin.  He has gone over the Gasline and set some new track there and mentioned that Double Bubble is still pretty good, but to watch for thin, icy spots especially on the hills.  On Friday, he groomed the entire Spencer Loop and the Richter Loop.

CHUGIAK/EAGLE RIVER
Bill was out this morning filling the really icy tunnels with more snow at Beach Lake/Chugiak H.S.  He is making a few passes on some of the trails to "freshen" them up a bit with a snowmachine and drag this afternoon.

"UWAX is Back" Kincaid weather hotline is back online 248-UWAX (248-8929) will give Time, Temp in F, Wind direction, wind speed & humidity. Listen closely, - Hal, the automated voice, is a bit hard to understand. Huge thank you to Karl Volz for making that happen.
